  • The Cleaning Performance Index - CPI

The function of the adhesive roll is to pick up and hold the maximum number of particles without allowing these particles, or the adhesive, to transfer back onto the substrate. Using internationally recognised testing procedures, (e.g.FINAT) Teknek measure the various characteristics of the adhesive to calculate the optimum "Cleaning Performance Index".

Relative Holding power x Tack Factor x Coatweight x peel factor = Cleaning performance index.

    Where:-

    relative holding power

RHPHolding power is calculated when the adhesive is freshly revealed. However during normal operation when the adhesive is tumbling on the polymer roller, its ability to hold contamination decays with time. So holding power when the AR is new will be different to the holding power after say 2 hours, and again after 4 hours.

RHP Relative Holding Power = Holding power of the adhesive x decay factor.

The better the RHP, the longer the adhesive will continue to lift contamination..

    peel factor

peel factorPeel Factor test quantifies the permanence of adhesion or peel ability of the adhesive being used. If the peel factor is to high the adhesive will stick to the polymer rolls. If it is to low the dust will not transfer as well.

    Tack Factor

track factorThis test allows the "initial grab " or "application tack" of the adhesive to be measured. If the tack is too high then a newly refreshed adhesive may stick to the roller. Worst case it will transfer adhesive to the polymer roller.

If the tack is to low it will not transfer the contamination to the adhesive.

    Coatweight

coatweightThis test determines the density of the adhesive coating. It is a measure of coating thickness over a given area.

The coatweight affects the ability to hold particles once they have been trapped. To thick and it will transfer to the polymer roller, to thin and it will not hold the particle in place.

Teknek use internationally recognised testing procedures, (e.g.FINAT) to measure the various characteristics of adhesive.

These test results are then used to accurately calculate "Cleaning performance index" of the contact cleaning adhesive roll.
