15 June 2009
Twenty employees from Teknek have gained an SVQ (Scottish Vocational Qualification) in Business Improvement Techniques (BITS).
Teknek is a successful international engineering company based near Glasgow. It is the global leader in web and sheet cleaning equipment which helps manufacturers in a wide variety of industries improve yields and reduce wastage.
The aim of the BITS qualification is to improve efficiency at work by equipping employees with the skills they require to do their job more effectively. The qualification is independently accessed and granted by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).
The training part funded by SE was delivered by Keizai, one of the UK's leading providers of accredited vocational training for the industrial and manufacturing sectors.
Staff from both operational and design functions within Teknek were involved in the training which focused on streamlining the spares function and spares assembly process as well as improvements to the manufacturing process.
"Teknek has a long standing commitment to training and continuous improvement and we are delighted with the outcomes of the Business Improvement Techniques qualification," said Stephen Mitchell, managing director, Teknek. "In these difficult times I believe that the companies who are willing and able to invest for the future will emerge from the downturn stronger and healthier."
