TEKNEK ISSUES URGENT ADVISORY
16 June 2009
Teknek - the global leader in contact cleaning equipment -- has today issued a world wide advisory regarding problems with contact cleaning machines.
The company has seen an increasing number of reports from customers in the USA relating to problems with Teknek cleaning machines.
Issues reported by customers range from a significant fall in yield to damage of key components including cleaning rollers. Detailed investigations have shown that customers have been substituting Teknek adhesive with non standard ‘copycat' parts produced by other companies.
Hunter Paterson- Teknek's product manager stated, ‘The problem has become such that we felt compelled to issue an advisory. The use of ‘copycat' adhesives and other parts is costing Teknek customers thousands of dollars each day as customers have had to scrap products, replace cleaning rollers, and halt production and so forth. Teknek engineers and technical support are being called only to find that ‘copycat' parts have been fitted.
He added: ‘We are concerned particularly in these difficult times that organisations maximise output and yield, and our advice is simple. Teknek products work best when fitted with genuine Teknek parts including adhesive, it's easy to spot Teknek product -- it's the only one with the Teknek logo printed on it'. To confuse customers further there have been many claims about patents and the like, Teknek holds several key patents in this area including US Patent (Pending) No 61/223,793 Improved Adhesive Sheeted Roll.
Teknek is offering those with problems due to ‘copycat' adhesive and parts a rescue service which comprises of some adhesive delivered quickly to allow production to continue and also launching a ‘refresh and renew' package for machines damaged by using ‘copycat' products.
